Be, be here, be there.

Jan 28 2012

I realize I haven’t written anything in a while. Basically I went back to Epsom, handed in my dissertation, went shopping and got drunk and danced too much to celebrate 21 years of Lorna. We’ve had about a week off and now I return to Surrey in order to start final major project. Shit son.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Common lately.

“Lost, nobody found us, the force that surrounds us
Ain’t with us, they get us on the ground and hit us
We paint pictures of the chains under their names and scriptures
Removed from earth, only to return through birth”

It’s your world

It goes down well.

It seems there is nothing else worthy of posting so that’s it for now.

Peace.

No Church in the Wild – Jay-Z & Kanye West (seriously amazing song)

Dissertation is pretty much finished. I could not be happier about this fact, it is exactly one week until hand-in so I’m pretty proud. It is also a week and one day until the Horsley household and its honorary member, Jodie, get drunk and dance away to celebrate the 21 years of Lorna. We are already excited.

I also went to Milton Keynes with Tasha, we shopped, ate and saw Sherlock Holmes 2. It was actually better than I thought it was going to be. I figured what with the first one and the BBC version it would be hard to make another good one, but it was really well made and featured a pretty smart story line. If you liked the first one, you’ll like the 2nd.

I’m returnig to the Horsley home in 3 or 4 days and I’m really looking forward to it.

Happy Weekend.

Mila Kunis for Christian Dior 2012. Wow.

“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

Jan 05 2012

I got the Kathryn Stockett book The Help for Christmas. I started Christmas Day and I’m pretty sure I’ll be finished in a week or so. It is split into three perspectives: Aibileen and Minny who are maids and Skeeter who decides to write a book that she hopes will change things in Mississippi during the Civil Right Movement.

“That’s what I love about Aibileen, she can take the most complicated things in life and wrap them up so small and simple, they’ll fit right in your pocket.”

I haven’t finished yet, but so far I think the film did a nice job.

“Three words that became hard to say”

Jan 03 2012

Load the car and write the note
Grab your bag and grab your coat
Tell the ones that need to know
We are headed north

Ah Brooklyn Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I’m in
My hands they shake my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn Brooklyn take me in

Dumbed down and numbed by time and age
Your dreams to catch the world, the cage
The highway sets the travelers stage
All exits look the same
Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you

Holidays are coming

Dec 19 2011

This is a bumper, happy post of pictures from what has been my christmas so far:

Most importantly; my tree at home all decked out.

Some festive ornaments…

Clockwise: The tiny dusting of snow we had, the glittery J2O, my Christmas nails and my perfect secret santa from not-so-secret Lorna.

And lastly, my attempt at cheering up my hot water bottle.

Nearly home

Dec 14 2011

A total of two days, two sleeps, one movie-mulled-wine night at a friends, and one hour-long lecture until I finally get in my Papa’s car and go home for Christmas. Happy.

I have given my presentation and now only have one 6000 word dissertation to mull over.

This is what our student digs look like at christmas:

Soon I’ll be able to blog about what my home looks like at Christmas.

Happy.

Dec 09 2011

One week until I can go home.

One week, and then all I’ll have to worry about is Christmas and dissertation.

One week.

In the meantime I have to give a presentation on America’s Next Top Model and finish my Christmas shopping with money that I do not possess. But I could care less because there is only one week.

When ten days became thirteen and home moved further away

Dec 02 2011

God knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts
I guess you kissed the girls and made them cry
Those Hardfaced Queens of misadventure
God knows what is hiding in those weak and sunken eyes
A Fiery throng of muted angels
Giving love and getting nothing back

People help the people
And if your homesick, give me your hand and I’ll hold it
People help the people
And nothing will drag you down
Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I’d be cold as a stone and rich as the fool
That turned, all those good hearts away

People help the people – Cherry Ghost (covered by Birdy)

Today I took being a student a step too far. Every free sample or tester of health and beauty, tea and food samples you can barter off of websites, will be shoved through my letterbox within the next week. In true student style I also had one, lonesome lecture today that lasted a total of twenty-five minutes. Time well spent.

On another note. It’s bloody freezing.

I do love winter.

More

Nov 24 2011

I’m currently writing a piece on the ebook versus the print market in our little corner of the world. Now I’ve gotten the research and and emails over and done with and I’ve actually put electronic pen to a word document, it feels good. It’s surprising how much weight lifts when you just start. The three projects we’re juggling at the minute require so much research and tutorials, contacting people and constantly clicking the refresh button on surveys it takes about three months before you can physically put one word after the other and make an introduction.

I can now say that I have started all three. Now comes the hard part.

Finishing it.

Home again, after seeing my brother in London for a meal. He graduated yesterday and we ate tapas to toast the occasion. I return to Surrey on Sunday.

For tonight my other brother brings little, lovely Shannon round and we’re having curry for dinner.

All I do is eat.

Enjoy.

Oct 25 2011

A grand total of one day will be spent at uni this week. So I’ll do research for the many projects that I have going at the minute.

Fun.

Thursday, however, is a good day. I’m meeting Mama Creamer at Kings Cross and then taking her to Westfields for shopping and lunch. What’s more because the lack of a schedule, I’m going home for three days.

A place I haven’t been in three weeks. Can’t wait.

FINALLY gave in trying to find The Darjeeling Limited in an actual store and ordered it from HMV. I’ve only been looking for it for like 5 months. No biggie. I spent the afternoon watching it and eating enchiladas. It was a good night.

Took a picnic to Ashridge today with Tasha. You can basically walk in whichever direction you want, for how long you want and probably only bump into one man and his dog. It was a nice way to say goodbye before I venture back to Epsom next week.

My last week consists of babysitting, visiting my brother on his birthday, some gardening for my nan and a day in Milton Keynes with ma and pa. My dear ol’ mum has planned to do a week of my favorite meals before I return to cooking for myself. I feel like I’m on death penalty except with 6 extra last meals…I’ll post pics. Perhaps I when go back to uni I’ll have something more interesting to fill these musings with.

Dirty Sexy Things

Aug 30 2011

Yesterday was the first Monday in 8 weeks where there was no Dirty Sexy Things to watch. Basically the photographer Peru wanted to create a different exhibition using eight models on eight shoots.

This was them on week one: Rob, Jessie B, Jessie, Ariella, BB, Charlotte, Jay and Ocean.

And by the end of it:

They looked amazing!

I went to the wondrous place that is MK and then for a walk around some gardens. It was sweet.  The rest of the week consists of baby-sitting, seeing both brothers and a hair-cut. 11 days until housemate reunion!

It’s raining. Again. I don’t mind though as I have absolutely nothing to do until Sunday. Speaking of which, two weeks from Sunday I go back to uni. I’m officially a fully fledged, fully enrolled third year.

Things worth mentioning:

If you haven’t seen Cowboys & Aliens yet, you should go and see it.

If you haven’t listened to the Beyonce album 4, you should go and listen to it.

If you haven’t used this weather as an excuse to watch a DVD, you really should.

My brother recently bought a Diana+ from a shop in Carnaby Street and now I’m dying for one.

I’m thinking of asking for something similar for my 21st. Below is a Diana F+ in let’s face it a pretty immense colour.

I love Starbucks. I love the little ‘the way I see it’s you get on the side of the take-away cups:

Aug 19 2011

Back from Epsom. It was pretty nice to be somewhere else for a couple of days. We shopped, ate too much, took the grand tour and I caught up with two out of my three housemates. Only something silly like three weeks until we’re all reunited and my third and final year commences. I have mixed emotions about this fact. I’m ecstatic to go back to living with the girls and fucking around but I’m pretty fearful about going back to uni. It’s crunch time, basically.

Until then though, I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. Which is nothing. Perfect.

Bought these lovelies from H&M:

Planning on putting them together with black drainpipes for my ‘back to school’ outfit.

My brother introduced me to the comedy show Community. It’s real funny and addictive. I sat down to watch one and ended up watching ten. It follows this eclectic group of people who attend a community college, which sounds boring but it’s actually one of the funniest things I’ve watched since Friends.

This is the season one trailer:

“We gon’ take it to the moon, take it to the stars”

Aug 12 2011

Currently in the middle of listening to Watch the Throne ♥ It’s the first feature length album from Kanye and Jay-Z; it’s about time and it’s immense. It kind of meets Blueprint 3 and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy in the middle. It keeps the layering feel of both of them; the autotuning the soul samples and the manic/contemporary raps. The tracks ‘Otis’, ‘Murder To Excellence’ and ‘Made in America’ are worth a listen to if nothing else.

While we’re on the subject I’m also loving:

Ed Sheeran – You need me, I don’t need you.

Drake – Headlines.

Lil Wayne – How to love.

Jamie Woon – Lady Luck

Dionne Bromfield – Get over it

“The roads to peace are closed, and the traffic’s on the war paths”

Aug 11 2011

Lupe Fiasco – State Run Radio. I thought it was appropriate.

I can safely say that on more than one occasion this week I have been ashamed to be both a part of the current young generation and British. For reasons that seem unknown to most involved people took to the streets of major towns and cities, mostly London, and terrorized them. Destroyed homes, dismantled landmark buildings that have survived two world wars, looted stores and generally made people frightened for their lives and possessions. I don’t live in London but I know those who do and when at uni I live pretty near. It’s disgusting and as a young person I could not and would not ever condone any of it nor do I think the police should hesitate in dealing out punishment. Whatever the age. There has been a turning point: people started a riot clean up scheme. These people outnumber those involved in the riots and that I am proud of. I hope this ends now and not a moment later.

I’m now going to come down off my soap box and end with these pictures:

I’ll end like I mostly do: Peace

We don’t eat – James Vincent Mcmorrow

Back from the west side of the country. It has to have been the most perfect camping holiday I’ve had in a long long time. It was on a beautiful farm that was in the middle of nowhere and it was so peaceful. The sun shined pretty much 6 out of the 7 days we were there. We went somewhere new every day and ate at least one meal out and one at the tent. It was lovely and perfect and I did not want to leave.

Here’s why…

This was the campsite complete with roosters and a tea room.

We visited Montacute House…

Lyme Regis…

Lulworth and Durdle Door.

♥ My most beloved pic of the holiday ♥

Ahh I so badly want to go back. I miss the sound of zips, the fresh air and waking up at 7am to the smell of bacon and coffee.

Babysitting this week and adjusting to four walls and going up stairs again. I’ve also started reading Markus Zusak’s ‘The Book Theif’ and it’s really unputdownable. Really eloquently written. Oh and September’s issue of Elle is top notch.

Peace.

No Harry Potter image yesterday. Three today to over compensate.

I actually have no idea what day i’m going to see Harry so this could go on a while.

Yesterday was long. We got to Silverstone for 6 so my dad could sign on (he marshals) baring in mind there was nothing worth seeing until half 12. That’s what I mean by long. It was a good race though and we had a pretty cushy view. It was actually my seventeenth British Grand Prix. I’m pretty proud of that fact.

Tomorrow I see friends and eat. Tonight I over compensate with sleep.

Last Luther tonight sad and glad. It’s pretty heavy stuff. Don’t ruin One Tree Hill I haven’t watched it, Being Erica ended, I watched a new show called Dirty, Sexy, Things. It was good. I’m obsessed with the Universal channel. It’s crime shows all day every day.

I realize have a problem.

Day five: One Tree Hill. Sophia Bush, James Lafferty & Bethany Joy Galeotti.

Follows stupidly good looking people who live in Tree Hill. Now watching season eight…

In other news…

Officially and entirely moved into the big room. Furniture has been assembled and pictures put up. I love it.

Tomorrow I do some gardening for my nan and then see a friend I haven’t seen in almost a year. Wednesday and Thursday I’m also seeing friends. I have a nice week ahead of me. That is of course minus the shitty injection I have to have later.

Five days until the British Grand Prix, ten days until Potter and  just under three weeks until I go on holiday!!

Pretty pictures to end:

Ha amazing. CSI meets mean girls.

I can’t even hate her for being pretty, she’s too pretty.

Time lord with a time box and a companion.

Doctor: Course you’re not, you’re not scared of anything! Box falls out of the sky, man falls out of box, man eats fish custard, and look at you! Just… sitting there. So you know what I think?

Amelia: What?

Doctor: Must be a hell of a scary crack in your wall.

Stephen Fretwell – Run: because that’s what my last fm was playing whilst I was writing the following shit…

If anyone actually reads this blog a little while ago I did a week of my favorite films. I’m well aware that it’s Thursday and not the start of a new week but all the same I’m going to do seven days of the best shows on Tv. For no other reason than I’m slightly bored and I want to.

Day one: Supernatural. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Jim Beaver.

They’re brothers from a dysfunctional family who hunt bad things with the help of a grumpy man and an angel. Simple.

In other news…

Green Lantern has been postponed until next week and I’ve been bored since Tuesday. Being Erica was a slight mind fuck on Sunday. The show is about a woman (Erica…duh) she’s not having the best of lives and then she has an allergic reaction to a coffee with nuts in. When she wakes up in the Hospital a Dr Tom offers to fix all her problems if she enrolls in therapy with him. He asks for a list of regrets and then he sends her back in time to fix them. Eventually her life gets better and then she moves to group therapy.  Anyway in Sundays episode she’s finally with the guy everyone wants her to be with and she’s saved her company and then: boom. She wakes up in the hospital and it’s apparently been a dream. Baring in mind I’ve watched this show for like three years I wasn’t happy. It was just a stupid test in the end and now she’s a fully fledged therapist. Not that you asked. It’s a really good show. And Canadian. Although the latter doesn’t influence the first.

Erica and Dr Tom.

This is why I’ll be buying Vanity Fair this month.

Now some pretty pictures.

Tuesdays episode was ‘mint’

General Update.

God it’s hot. I’ve moved into the bigger room. It has a tv and a virgin box. I’m sorted. I’m going to the zoo tomorrow with my mum’s class and I actually think the last time I went I was wearing a Brownies uniform…Seeing Faye and Green Lantern on Wednesday. If this was twitter I’d hash tag it with an ‘stoopidlyexcited’.

What I’m listening to…

Mr Hudson – Knew We Were Trouble & Anyone But Him (I blame last fm)

Snoop Dogg, John Ledgend & Kanye West – Eyez Closed

Glee – Unpretty/I feel pretty, Landslide & Raise Your Glass

Lupe Fiasco – All Black Everything

Chris Brown – Next To You, She Aint You & All Back

Rizzle Kicks – Down With The Trumpets…

For which the video will follow. Summer tune.

Lupe Fiasco featuring (the amazing) John Legend – Never Forget You.

(Still can’t get over how good Lupe’s album is)

Yesterday I ventured to White City. Which unfortunately isn’t as ‘J.R.R Tolkien’ as it sounds. It’s simply where Westfields shopping mall is. I met housemates, ate, drank, shopped and came home again.

It was unmeasurably good to see them.

Today is my brother’s final show so we’re venturing to Kingston by car later. I’m quite excited. It also means that mum thought it’d be a good idea to have dinner at lunch time so we don’t worry later. However, awaking out of a stupor and smelling lasagna at eight o’clock this morning was quite possibly the surrealist thing ever.

In other news:  the second series of Cougar Town is most probably the funniest show I’ve watched since Friends.

The ‘chalk children’ was just pure genius.

“Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?”

Jun 19 2011

Landslide – Fleetwood mac.

I’ve compiled a list of things I felt like sharing. I hope this makes for interesting reading.

I will…

write a book that has no age limit.

I wish…

it was possible to do some things over.

I would….

love to have had enough confidence to be an actress.

I could….

drink tea for a living.

I do…

study fashion journalism but I think I’d rather write about films.

I don’t…

think I could have asked for better friends.

I won’t…

stop watching re-runs of Gilmore Girls.

I like…

the feeling you get when you come home after a couple of weeks.

I hate…

Rain in the summer.

I guess…

I could do more and see more if I tried.

I expect…

my eye sight to worsen due to how much I watch the box.

I think…

I could live by myself if I had to. But I don’t.

(Nor do I want or need to)

I can…

do a lot.

I might..

dye my hair one day.

I hope…

I travel and see too much.

Sentimental, philosophy lesson over pictures will now follow. Peace.

‘All black everything’ is the best track.

You would never see
Stayed in Africa
We ain’t never leave
So there were no slaves in our history
Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he
See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything.

Uh, and we ain’t get exploited
White man ain’t feared so he did not destroy it
We ain’t work for free, see they had to employ it
Built it up together so we equally appointed
First 400 years, see we actually enjoyed it

Were no reconstructions, Civil War got avoided

“When we were young, we were small but we didn’t know it.”

Jun 17 2011

New Luther on Tuesday. I Forgot about that too.  Actually I think I purposefully erased it from my memory because it was some scary shit. It was scary shit in a good way but if I hadn’t of cleared from my short term memory the night I watched I’m pretty sure I’d have had nightmares. It was good to have him back though.

On the subject of BBC crime dramas I’ve been watching their newest creation: Case Histories. It’s Jason Issacs as a private detective and it really works. Watch it. If only for him.

Supernatural. Episode two, season six. Good.

Seriously though the story line was really good and clever and edge of the seat stuff but I’m still wanting answers.  I’m sure I’ll be enlightened soon but all the same: Grandpa back from a long trip upstairs and Sam back from downstairs?!  Glad that Dean had a little pop at this fact because I was beginning to think that the show would ignore it for a while.  I’ve missed my show. It’s good to have it.

God you can tell I’m on summer holiday. Whenever I blog it’s about what I’ve watched. I do have a life. I just haven’t quite found all of it yet. Proof of the fraction of a life I do have will now follow:

I had a glorious shopping trip last week but it’s experienced a come down. I bought the best navy blue nail varnish, a mustard yellow blouse that extends at the back, sketch books, ‘It’s kind of a funny story’ and ‘Nowhere Boy’ on DVD and a lovely pair of floral, high waisted, wide legged trousers. However I went to put them on the over day and there are holes in the first layer of trouser. And not ‘oh look a little hole’ more like ‘oh look my leg fits through that hole’  so now i’m off to return them.

See. I do stuff.

Pictures will follow. I take no credit, they’re just easy on the eye:

Jun 15 2011

I’ve forgotten many things. Well two blog related things. Number one is the first Supernatural episode of season six and number two is my tenth and eleventh cinema trips of the year.

As far as Supernatural goes, don’t get me wrong I am seriously ecstatic that it’s FINALLY over here and that I’m home so I can watch it in all it’s glory and it will always be the best show on the box. But what?! It doesn’t fit. As if Sam would come back for a year and not tell Dean and hello? Dead Grandpa returns? And ‘family hunting’? As if you’d just except all that crap. Actually I guess as far as first episodes go it’s actually got me more hooked than usual…so glad it’s on tonight.

Tenth movie was X-Men. Happily welcomed addition to the franchise. I loved it. Really good story and great choice of actors. Eleventh was Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which, after the bad media, I was expecting to be crap  but it was actually pretty alright. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Pirates of the Caribbean movie  just maybe not as good as the first. Definitely not the worst film I’ve seen this year (that would be Never Let Me Go, and not because it was crap because it just wasn’t my depressive cup of morbid tea )

I have to go to a Zumba class with my Mum later. I’m not sure how I feel about this fact. I’ll get back to you.

Pretty pictures will follow. I take no credit. I just admire. Peace.

Currently I’m reading Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s ‘The Midnight Palace’. It’s his fourth novel to come to Britain and for four years in a row his book has come out at the beginning of June. I have received each one for my Birthday since I was 17. I could not recommend an author more if I tried.

Like the loser I am, I miss 90210.

And Doctor Who. But I don’t mind admitting that one.

“Crimson. Eleven. Delight. The smell of dust after rain.”

Excited for Transformers. Sad that the Fox isn’t in it.

Actor Josh Stewart has been added to the cast. Who he’ll play isn’t known yet but he is thought to be the last name added to the cast list. That’s a cast list with the likes of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (catwoman), Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake. Then of course Christian Bale returns along with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman.

Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page

Snap Happy = The last monday out before Summer break and my lovely housemates and me.

Started watching a show called Parenthood. It’s like a cross between Gilmore Girls, Life Unexpected and Dirty Sexy Money. That might be partly because it has Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls and Peter Krause (who I love) from the latter. All the same it’s very sweet, a bit dark, amusing and just a tad addictive. I’d recommend it if you like the aforementioned and good acting if, however, American family sitcoms don’t tickle your fancy this is a standard example so steer clear.

I leave you with a song that has been stuck in my head for days.

“If you have a better plan, I’m all ears. In fact, if you have a better plan, I’ll take you to a planet where everyone is all ears”

May 29 2011

Home for summer. Well three months. I’m not sure if that long a period of time can be classed as a summer break but all the same. Feels good. Bumper post because A) yesterdays Doctor Who blew my mind and B) I managed to nab the July issue of Empire the day of it’s release.

“I need to do this and you need to stand away”

“The Almost People” I can’t even…WHAT? Seriously clever twist yesterday. I’m in love with this series. I seriously thought it was just a really good two parter and then when I think it’s just going to end it implodes! And I always think all of the questions we get bombarded with will be answered next episode and then boom: how the hell was Amy flesh for nine months, where is she, how is she pregnant (minus the birds and bees explanation) how the hell will they find her, who is the freaky eye patch lady and why are there so many mind fucks??

Ok Doctor Who splurge over.

I did go out at about eleven on Thursday morning to insure I grabbed a copy of the Harry Potter special Empire. It’s a work of art. Slight exaggeration but all the same I’m treasuring it. There’s also a great bit about Attack the Block and Heath Ledger. Good buy.

I’ve been snap happy lately. The next post will illustrate this. Peace.

One day left of work experience. Just one menial, singular, solo, individual day left of work experience. I cannot wait for five to hit then I am meeting up with my dear old friends and we are going to eat, eat and drink. Then when Friday rolls around I’m going home home home! Jane: You think you’re gonna just walk in and walk out ? Thor: No. I’m gonna fly out.

May 07 2011

Eighth film of the year: Thor (finally!!)

It had a little bit of cheese but then comic book films like this that have to establish a character normally do. Unless it’s Hulk. Then they’re all full of cheese and someone is yet to make a decent one. Anyway it was really great and I’m so glad that after the wait it was worth a watch. Can’t wait for Captain America and The Avengers. The only thing is I’m not sure where the need for 3D came from. It would have worked equally well without it, in fact it was a strong enough film to not have it at all. Plus I have to wear glasses to watch a film in the cinema anyway and don’t appreciate having to wear two pairs. Not a good look. Thank god the Leicester Square Odeon is apparently permanently pitch black. Party yesterday, Cinema and pub today and food shopping and nothing else tomorrow. Sucky work experience unfortunately continues next week but finish for good Thursday. And not a day later! Home then and I’m seriously counting down the days. Next stop home please! Admired pictures that I take no credit for will now follow…

Apr 27 2011

Second week of internship and I’m home. Doing nothing. Definitely not complaining but I’m dreading the sound of my phone incase it’s them; “actually we do need you” are words I could do without I’m enjoying having the house to myself far too much to be interrupted with actual work.

Home tomorrow anyway. Only got back Monday. Still can’t wait to go home for four days again.

When my Dad bought me back to Epsom a little while ago we had the Radio 4 desert island discs on and it sparked me thinking what eight tracks I’d pack on to my ipod…

1 – Kanye West – Family Business. Simply because it’s always been my favorite song of his and I never tire of hearing it.

2- B.o.B – Lovelier Than You. Because his whole album was the soundtrack to my summer last year and every time I listen to a song from it I’m reminded of that. This is my most coveted track of his.

3 – Ray Lamontagne – Lesson Learned. I’ve loved him forever and Till the Sun Turns Black is my favorite album, I love every song but this one sends me to sleep content.

4 – Michael Buble – How Sweet it is. I adore his voice and this one always cheers me up.

5 – Mumford & Sons – Dust Bowl Dance. Simply because of Marcus Mumford’s voice is perfect and the lyrics to this particular one are pretty exceptional.

6 – Kanye West – Hey Mama. Another Kanye because yes I love him and Hey Mama is just a lovely track.

7 – Madeline Peyroux – You’re going to make me lonesome when you go. I’ve had my ipod for about three years. This song was the first one I put on there and I have never taken it off. I’m in love with it always.

8 – The Beatles – Here comes the sun. My mum loves The Beatles and so I listened to them when I was younger and this song reminds me of her and the movie Parent Trap which it’s featured in and which I watched countless times.

I’ve had a practically perfect four days at home. Sun, food and sitting doing absolutely nothing of note.

Back to Epsom I go today though, a fact I’m not too chuffed about as it means resuming work experince tomorrow. I’m not enjoying it and neither are my feet. Oh well it’s a short week and I’ll be back home Thursday for another long weekend. Here’s hoping it involves seeing Thor and eating too much. Oh and some nice weather wouldn’t go amiss.

Posting might go back to normal now. Group project is thankfully over and I’ve finished my C.S essay.

Movie update: I’ve seen my seventh film of the year. The Lincoln Lawyer and it’s definitely sitting near the top of the list of films I’ve seen so far… still can’t beat The Fighter. It was kind of like watching an extended episode of Shark. Except with Matthew Mcconaughey instead of James Woods. Even trade.

I also bought Cemetery Junction with a voucher I received for carrying out a survey. I love that film so much, I think I could watch it three times in one day and still be amused by it

I’m making pizza for dinner (this is bound to fail) and then we’re venturing to the fair. Tomorrow I’m homeward bound for a week or so during which I probably should find some work experience but knock down after knock down doesn’t really aid the process. “The bittersweet between my teeth, trying to find the in-betweens, fall back in love eventually.”

Mar 15 2011

I have a 1,500 word feature to finish and a 500 word article to write.

Instead I have done two loads of washing, showered and straightened my hair, made and eaten lunch and I am now writing a blog post. I have mastered the art of procrastination.

Katmandu’s big 22nd Birthday was a success; cakes were consumed, jelly shots were regretted, there was a bus journey, an annoying walk, an awful lot of dancing both drunken and tired, a begrudging taxi driver and too many sleeping bags. My recovery Sunday consisted of Footloose, Easy A, chicken dippers and my first home made spaghetti Bolognese.

My plan for week consists of actually writing the work I’m supposed to, two hours of Badminton with Katmandu, a photo shoot ,going to the “Stand up for The Week” tomorrow with Lorna, uni, another photo shoot, a lazy Saturday and a visit from my parents.

I’ll end with some admired pictures and instead of cracking on I shall go and make tea and put some more washing on…

Ha. Amazing.

Oh, heeeyyy!

Watched Inception with house mates yesterday. I swear I will never tire of that movie. Ever. Tina’s tomorrow for a night of movies in preparation for D-Day, or B-Day as it were. Katmandu ages another year on Saturday and we’re going all out; Malibu cakes, jelly shots, pre drinks, the hippodrome in kingston and then the inevitable alcohol coma that will precede all of that. Sweet.

Found pictures that have taken my fancy will now follow…

General Update.

Weird time at the moment I have too many ‘what ifs’ floating around in my head. I’ve got three nights and then I am homeward bound and I am more than ready for a few home comforts to take my mind off of things.

There was no drunken Monday night out yesterday. Which in all honesty was probably for the best because no doubt I would drunken my worries away pretty happily. I would have made more than a fool out of myself in front of certain people.

Tonight, me and Katmandu are venturing out to play badminton. Seeing as the jogging we promised ourselves didn’t last very long I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep up with this particular exercising venture.

I wish brains had an on and off switch.

“She said I think I’ll go to Boston…
I think I’ll start a new life,
I think I’ll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I’ll get out of California, I’m tired of the weather,
I think I’ll get a lover and fly him out to Spain…
and I think I’ll go to Boston,
I think that I’m just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind…
I think I need a sunrise, I’m tired of the sunset.”

Feb 26 2011

This rain would ruin my plans for the weekend except I don’t have any. So I’ll sit with a cup a tea, paint my nails and see how many Lord of The Rings I can fit in before my housemates get home. It’s a fun life.

General Update

Fifth and sixth cinema trip of the year was Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go and the Coen Brother’s True Grit. This may be the first time this year I put my respectable reviewing to bed. Whether it was the week I was having or simply the lack of sleep, Never Let Me Go was a feeble attempt at a movie. In the simplest of terms? I was bored. I like to park  myself down for a film and not realize I have been in the same position for two hours. It’s not to say that it was an appalling film or the acting was bog standard it just did not do anything for me.

True Grit however was astounding. If this movie does not receive an Oscar for even the soundtrack it will be seriously robbed. From the offset you know it’s going to be incredible: the fact that it features Jeff Bridges and the Coen Brother’s directing ability speaks volumes already. Just go and see it. Seriously.

I’m off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz.

Huge presentation tomorrow that I’m in no way looking forward to.

Weekend in Epsom.

Mumford & Sons – Timshel

Eventful would describe the last couple of days.

This song suits my current mood and their performance of it on The Brit Awards was practically breathtaking.
